Normally when shopping for lenses the mount type (EF, F, E etc) is enough to tell you if the lens will work with your camera system. Extenders are very specific to to the distance the last rear lens elements are from the mount. Check the lens compatibility list to make sure this will fit you desired lens. Otherwise, it does what it should. This is common for 2X extenders, while 1.4X extenders reduce the lens maximum effective aperture by one stop. Just like the Canon EF 2.0x III Extender, this lens is only compatible with the longer Canon L lenses (135mm and up). You can’t use it with the 100mm f/2.8 L IS USM lens for instance.

I don't believe any Canon EF teleconverters are compatible with EF-S lenses. Only Full Frame EF lenses are. But not any EF-S lenses.
