Right-click anywhere in the Playback tab list, then click “Show Disabled Devices.”. At this point, a device called something like “digital output” or “optical output” should show up. Right-click it and click “Enable” to switch it on. Once you’ve done that, right-click it again and click “Set as default device.”.
Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > scroll down to "Recording Audio" > Run the Troubleshooter. Try one, or both options there, probably Microphone > Next and continue on. That fixed it for mine, and an extra item appeared in the Device Manager under the Audio inputs and outputs.
1) Ran the troubleshooter. It couldn't solve the problem. 2) Made sure that the sound device was enabled in the BIOS. It was. 3) Uninstalled the sound device in the Device Manager and let it reinstall during the next boot up. Didn't make any difference. 4) Downloaded and installed the latest driver from MSI's website.

I checked and there are no realtek drivers showing in device manager under sound even though i did download them. Instead it shows high definition audio twice but not realtek.
